The symptom checklist

Last reviewed June 2026

More than thirty signs are linked to menopause and perimenopause. They reach well beyond hot flushes, and they often arrive quietly enough to be mistaken for something else.

Body

Hot flushes and night sweats. Changes to your periods. Joint aches. Headaches. Changes in weight or skin.

Mind and mood

Low mood. Anxiety that feels new. A shorter temper. Brain fog and trouble finding words.

Sleep and energy

Waking in the early hours. Tiredness that sleep does not fix.

What to do with this

No two people get the same mix. If several of these feel familiar and they are affecting your life, that is worth taking seriously. A short, free check is a simple place to start.

This is general information to help you recognise common signs. It is not a diagnosis and not a substitute for advice from a clinician.
